Chelsea transfer news: Olivier Giroud undergoing AC Milan medical ahead of signing two-year deal | Football News
Olivier Giroud undergoes a medical examination with AC Milan before signing a two-year contract with the Serie A club.
The French striker arrived at La Madonnina clinic in Milan around 7 a.m. on Friday morning before finalizing his transfer from Chelsea.
Giroud’s transfer fee is said to be around € 1million (£ 855,000), with an additional € 1million (£ 855,000) in bonuses subject to a number of appearances and qualifiers for the Champions League.
The 34-year-old signed a new one-year contract at Chelsea last summer and the club took the option of extending it for another 12 months in June.
Arsenal sold Giroud to Chelsea for £ 18million in January 2018, six years after signing him from the Ligue 1 champion side of Montpellier for £ 10.8million.
He scored 39 goals in 119 appearances during his time at Stamford Bridge, winning three major trophies, including the Champions League title in May.
Giroud was involved in France’s disappointing Euro 2020 campaign as they were eliminated by Switzerland on penalties in the round of 16 after a 3-3 draw after extra time.
AC Milan have already signed Fikayo Tomori from Chelsea this summer, as they activated their £ 25million option to buy the young defender after a successful six-month loan, and are interested in Hakim Ziyech and Tiemoue Bakayoko.
The Italian club finished second in Serie A last season, securing a return to the Champions League after a seven-year absence.
