Original story [Wed 31st Mar, 2021 06:55 BST]: Cygames releases Nintendo Switch version of its digital card game Shadowverse: The Battle of the Champions in Europe and North America this summer. This developer, as you may already know, has already worked on the mobile title released by Nintendo, Lost Dragalia.
Shadowverse: Champion’s Battle is based on the animated adaptation of Cygames’ multiplayer PC card and mobile strategy multiplayer fighting game Shadowverse, and is described as a “reimagined” version. Players will collect new cards to build powerful decks, and then be able to fight solo or head online against opponents. On top of that, there is a Battle Pass system that includes cosmetics and other in-game bonuses. The game will also be available digitally and physically.
All versions will include a special promo code granting two alternate art cards (three cards each), 10 Seer Globes, and cosmetic items redeemable in the mobile and PC version of Shadowverse. Here is the backstory and some screenshots:
“In Shadowverse: The Battle of the Champions, players take on the role of a transfer student to Tensei Academy, where they are quickly introduced to the Shadowverse card game by their classmate, Hiro Ryugasaki. The New Friends team up with Shadowverse club president (and only member) Rei on a quest to master the popular card battle game and restore the club to its former glory by winning the National Championship.
Throughout their adventures, players will be able to explore unique locations around the school and the surrounding city, where events and encounters await them in less-expected locations. Team up with new friends, fight for become national champions and save the Shadowverse Club for future generations! “
