During a recent and extremely long livestream in support of Final Fantasy 14, producer Naoki Yoshida gave some background on the other game he is currently producing: Final Fantasy 16. Most importantly, what he has said, that was not to expect to see him at the Tokyo Game Show in September / October.
Final Fantasy 16
However, development is apparently proceeding at a decent pace. According to a translation courtesy of Twitch streamer Aita Kimochi, the screenplays have all been fully written and the recording for the English dub is about to be completed. What’s likely to take it away from the Tokyo Game Show this year is perfectionism and the desire not to say much until is ready to release.
According to Kimochi, Yoshida mentioned the combat system and “things that haven’t even been covered yet” would be in the next announcement, but that announcement won’t be ready until shortly before release.
We’re hoping Final Fantasy 16 hits PC soon after a brief PlayStation 5 exclusivity window, but Sony is keeping a low profile on that.
