The Italian team are strong in attack and solid in defense although Leonardo Spinazzola, the excellent left-back, has ruptured his Achilles tendon and will be out for a long time.
We expect goals in this game from both ends of the pitch as both teams look good going forward and both haven’t managed to keep the sheets clean in their last two outings. Both teams have scored in each of Italy’s last two games, both of which ended 2-1, while three of Spain’s last four have seen both teams score.
In the other match, England face the black horses of the tournament. Denmark exceeded all expectations by qualifying for the last four. England’s Harry Kane is on fire and Raheem Sterling is also in excellent shape. Denmark will have to overtake an England side who are at their best in defense and attack with incredible strength off the bench. It will be very difficult for Denmark to repeat history and we see England heading for the final.
The final four of the European Championships was cemented by England beating Ukraine 4-0 in the last game of the round. In the last eight knockout matches, Italy have beaten Belgium 2-1; Denmark beat the Czech Republic 2-1. Playing with 10 men for much of the game, Switzerland bravely held Spain to a draw, before losing on penalties.
In Italy’s 2-1 win over Belgium, central midfielder Marco Verratti demonstrated a midfield masterclass, his pass being the key to the smoothness and speed of attack from Italy, and he delivered the crucial pass for the first goal. The aging defenders failed to keep pace with the Italian forwards and were knocked out of the competition. Italy, meanwhile, will now have a chance to advance to the final as they face a Spanish side who were pushed to the penalty mark in their draw against Switzerland.
The two black horses, the Czech Republic and Denmark, were vying for an unlikely place in the semi-finals. The Czechs, in their transition from defense to attack, relied more on short passes while trying to create openings for form-center forward Patrik Schick. Denmark, meanwhile, were looking for two wingers to break through and create opportunities in the opposing penalty area. Both teams played on the counterattack, but the pace of the Czechs often turned into position battles that the Danes won. Denmark, meanwhile, quickly moved the ball, creating a huge threat, which ultimately won them over.
England advanced to the semi-finals against a weak Ukraine which turned into a one-sided slaughter. The problem with Ukraine’s defensive line was too serious and could not withstand England’s pace and power in attack. Gareth Southgate’s side are now returning to Wembley where they face tournament fan-favorite Denmark in what will be a much tighter affair.
