Fact or Fiction: Memphis is now leader for QB Tevin Carter

National Director of Recruitment Rivals Adam gorney and recruitment analyst Adam friedman in the same way Bryan moss from TigerSportsReport.com and Joseph hastings from BuckeyeGrove.com tackle three recruiting topics and determine whether or not they believe each statement.

1. Memphis is now the main contender for uncommitted three-star QB Tevin Carter.

Tevin Carter (Nick Lucero / Rivals.com)

Gorney’s point of view: FICTION. Tevin Carter lives in Memphis and has been to this campus a number of times, pitched for coaches and he’s one of the quarterbacks that hasn’t signed up yet, but I feel like Georgia Tech definitely took the lead in recruiting after volunteering just after July 4th. He always felt like Memphis was going to be a fallback option for Carter if needed, but that no longer appears to be the case as Georgia Tech has emerged in its recruiting.

Moss’s point of view: FICTION. While it’s true that he loves Memphis and would love to be able to perform in front of his family and friends, I don’t feel like Memphis is in charge. His visit to Georgia Tech impressed him. I’m not entirely sure Memphis made Carter think he was a priority. When you see the comments Carter has made about Georgia Tech, you get the impression that the Yellow Jackets make him feel like he’s the priority. For me, Georgia Tech is the main competitor to land Carter.

2. Ohio State is emerging as the leader of the four star branch DB Zion and its brother.

Branch of Zion
Branch of Zion

Gorney’s point of view: MADE. Four-star security isn’t going to announce their engagement for a few months, so a lot could still happen – and five-star corner Domani Jackson is recruiting Branch hard at USC – but I feel like the Buckeyes are holding the line. advantage at present. Relationships are going to play a big part in Zion Branch’s decision and he loves the Ohio State staff and they sue him as well. USC was the childhood favorite so I’m not counting on the Trojans and its other top schools stand a chance as well, but if Branch got involved today I would choose Ohio State. I’m not sure that will change in the coming months. His brother, Zachariah, has many of the same options in the 2023 class and I feel like playing together is important.

Hastings’ point of view: MADE. It would be difficult to argue against saying “Done” at this point. Ohio State was already considered by some, including myself, to be one of the top two schools before its official visit the first weekend of last month, but they have gained a lot of momentum during and after this visit. Branch said after the trip that he “fell in love” with the school, that his interactions with the coaches and players went very well, and that the future Buckeyes in attendance showed him their love throughout the weekend. end.

While I don’t have a FutureCast yet because Branch isn’t expected to decide for a few months and USC is right behind, I think it’s safe to say that Ohio State should be considered the frontrunner right now. It also greatly helps the program that her brother, Zachariah, holds up an offer of Ryan daythe staff of. The Buckeyes, led by Brian hartline, arguably recruit wide receivers better than any other school in the country, and are among the best for Zachariah. Both Branch brothers want to attend the same college at the higher level, so whoever gets Zion may very well end up getting Zachariah. He’s still young in his process, but I would give the Buckeyes the edge by projecting where his recruiting and that of the senior branch might end.

3. After a summer of events, the wide receiver is the position where the most changes need to be made in the next rankings.

Luther's burden
Luther Burden (Sam Spiegelman)

Gorney’s point of view: FICTION. The wide receiver is going to be a position with a lot of changes and there could be some big moves for the players at the top, but I’m going with the quarterback spot. This summer has been so enlightening and so useful because events have come back in full force and almost all of the best quarterbacks in the country have been seen multiple times. It helps tremendously. There are four stars that are absolutely going to be in the five star discussion, maybe five that move a bit, certainly three stars that are skyrocketing and the scramble won’t end there. The receiver is a great place for movement, but the quarterback could be even bigger.

Friedman’s point of view: MADE. There will be more changes to the receiver position than any other position in the next ranking update for the 2022 class. I’m not really on a member here because there are more ranked receivers than anyone else. what other post. There are 95 classified receivers currently and 32 of them are in the Rivals250. There are only 55 ranked outside linebackers, only 21 in the Rivals250, and there are some pretty big changes expected to happen in the top 10. We’ve learned a lot about the top receivers and top linebackers in the last one. months and there There are still a few weeks left to gather the data before the next rank update.
