The Fantasy Premier League season has started off on a high, averaging 69 points and several triple-digit scores in Gameweek 1.
It’s important, however, not to get carried away and make big changes early on to force one of the top performers on your team.
Gameweek 2 has a lot going for it, but it does have some appealing elements for some of the premium assets.
Liverpool and Man City, for example, should have an easy home run against Burnley and Norwich respectively. Meanwhile, Man United are traveling to face a vulnerable defense from Southampton.
The weekend’s game, however, takes place at the Emirates Stadium where Arsenal host Chelsea.
Here are some tips to guide you through GW2.
CAPTAIN – MOHAMED WRONG | LIVERPOOL | 12.5M
Don’t fix what ain’t broke. Mohamed Salah was our first captain of the season and following his performance at Norwich, he fully deserves to keep the armband.
The Liverpool star had two assists and also scored 17 points, doubling to 34. Only treble hero Bruno Fernandes managed to beat him.
Salah was at his best threatening level at Carrow Road, taking five shots and creating three big chances. It even had 14 huge keys inside the box, more than any other GW1 game.
He looked extremely lively and will be eager to please an Anfield crowd when he returns to the stadium.
BRUNO FERNANDES (12.1m) is a close second for the captain after his superb display of three goals. His movement could terrorize the vulnerable defense of the Saints
DOMINIC CALVERT-LEWIN (8.0m) has only scored one goal in GW1, but his underlying stats keep him in good stead for the trip to Leeds. The attack seemed to be focused around him and he had GW1’s highest xG [1.03], while three of his five shots came from inside the six-yard box.
ONE TO GET
JACK GREALISH | CITY MAN | 8.0M
Bleached against Tottenham, but he impressed in the final third with his movement and some decent runs. He will certainly cause some trouble for Norwich and is expected to retain his place with apparently injured Ilkay Gundogan. Kevin De Bruyne could also make his first start of the season, which will likely boost Grealish’s productivity in front of goal.
ONE TO AVOID
BEN WHITE | ARSENAL | 4.5M
Arsenal’s big-under signing fell short of his GW1 billing with Brentford’s Ivan Toney enjoying a strong outing against him. The Gunners may have to face Romelu Lukaku this time around, which will prove to be much more intimidating. Things don’t get any easier in GW3 either with Man City to face.
GREENWOOD MASON | UNITED MAN | 7.5M
When it comes to ‘good deals’ 7.5m is on the high end, but under the current circumstances Mason Greenwood looks like a bargain. Injuries or lack of fitness for Marcus Rashford, Jesse Lingard and Edinson Cavani secure his place in United’s starting XI even though Jadon Sancho enters. He looked like one of the best players against Leeds and took his goal superbly. Its immediate facilities are also very attractive.
