We can’t wait! Literally. So we’re giving you a rundown of some of the startups you might see at Disrupt in the next few episodes of Extra Crunch Live.
Usually, the Extra Crunch Live team sit down with the founders and the investors who fund them to find out how they decided to partner up and, ultimately, how startups can get the “yes” in mind. fundraising. In the second half of the episode, these same guests give live commentary to the audience members who come to our virtual stage and showcase their products.
Truth be told, everyone loves a good pitch-off. So in these upcoming Startup Alley Edition episodes of Extra Crunch Live, we’re turning the entire episode into a pitch-off. The SUA companies will take the stage, one at a time, and have exactly 60 seconds to get us excited about their startup. But it wouldn’t be a real pitch-off without expert commentary.
I’m excited to announce that investors are joining us on these episodes to share their insights and wisdom with startups and the public.
On September 1, we will be joined by Neil Sequeira, co-founder and partner of defy.vc, as well as Stacey Bishop, partner of Scale Venture Partners.
Sequeira was Managing Director of General Catalyst before venturing to launch Defy. Prior to GC, he worked at TimeWarner Investments and was a founding member of AOLTW Ventures. Defy has a portfolio that includes Dropcam, Nest, Bustle, and more. Sequeira has served on over 40 boards, so it goes without saying that he will have plenty of insightful comments for our founders.
Bishop brings over 20 years of investment experience to our little pitch-off. She currently sits on the boards of Abstract, Airspace, Demandbase, Extole, Lever and more. Bishop has also served on several boards of directors where the company has had successful exits, including HubSpot, Bizible, and Vitrue. On September 8, we will be joined by Next47 CEO and Managing Partner, Lak Ananth, and Moxxie Ventures Founder and Managing Partner, Katie Stanton.
Ananth is the founding CEO of Next47, which is supported by Siemens AG. He has served on several boards of directors where he has helped companies grow beyond valuations of $ 1 billion. Ananth specializes in emerging areas of deep technology including AI / ML, vertical SaaS, robotics, mobility, etc. Some of Ananth’s current investments include Verkada, rideOS, and Markforged.
Katie Stanton has been an executive and operator for much of her career, holding positions at Twitter, Google, Yahoo and Color in a wide variety of departments including marketing, communications, recruiting, product and media. Stanton also served in the Obama White House and the State Department after starting her career as a banker with JP Morgan. She currently sits on Vivendi’s board of directors and has invested in dozens of start-ups including Airtable, Cameo, Carta, Coinbase, Literati, Modern Fertility, Shape Security and Threads.
