Halo, the legendary first-person shooter series that debuted on Xbox, finally returns this year with Infinite halo. Take on the role of Master Chief in a new single-player campaign or dive into free multiplayer with your own unique setup.
It is about 160 days after mankind lost the war. 343 Industries is calling Halo Infinite a “spiritual reboot” of the series that should appeal to newcomers and longtime fans alike. This largest campaign to date immerses players in the world and presents the history of the popular franchise. At the same time, arena-style multiplayer battles and sandbox squad battles quickly teach newbies what it means to play Halo.
Well, where to begin ? Here’s what you need to know about Halo Infinite.
Halo Infinite release date
Halo Infinite is planned for a vacation outing, which is just a fancy way of saying that it arrives in November or December with no exact release date.
Xbox Director Phil Spencer recently discussed Halo Infinite’s mysterious release window on Dropped Frames, a podcast on the video game industry. According to Video game chronicle, the release date may depend on when the contestants release their games to avoid clashes.
Halo Infinite was slated for release with the Xbox Series X | S in 2020. However, 343 Industries has pushed back the original release date a year after the lukewarm response from fans. The studio then planned a release in the fall of 2021, which then quietly reverted to a “vacation outing”.
Halo Infinite cross play
Halo Infinite supports cross play between PC, Xbox Series X | S and Xbox One. As with all other Halo games, Halo Infinite is Microsoft or bust.
In addition to cross-play, Microsoft pointed out that cross progression allows gamers to transfer their progress from PC to Xbox and vice versa. Cross progression works like playing the same game on different platforms. Save files, inventory, and other player-specific data should exist seamlessly across all platforms without any issues.
Halo Infinite beta test
There is no date for the beta test yet. However, Community Director Brian Jarrard has made it clear that he wants as many beta testers as possible. Anyone can sign up to test the beta for free. All you have to do is create a Halo Insider account, which means joining the official 343 Industries program to solicit feedback from volunteer testers.
Halo Infinite pre-orders
Halo Infinite pre-orders are live. Beware of bogus release dates like December 31 – these are just placeholders. They also represent the last game that could be released, assuming the team keeps their promise to go out on vacation in 2021.
Pre-order Halo Infinite from one of these retailers:
If you’re only interested in multiplayer, you won’t need to pre-order. Just download it for free as you would with Call of Duty: Warzone or any other free title.
Halo Infinite is only available in the standard version. There are currently no other editions. However, some are predicting a collector’s edition in the future given the history of the series with their release.
Any copy of Halo Infinite is for both Xbox and PC, so there is no need to purchase separate copies. Additionally, the game will be available for Xbox Game Pass with launch day access like all proprietary Microsoft games.
Halo Infinity Campaign
The new Master Chief storyline follows the fan-favorite Super Soldier in an expansive new Halo campaign. Not much is known about the actual plot, although the developers have cautioned players that dual handling and elites will not return.
Halo Infinite takes place in a open world environment similar to Halo: Combat Evolved. In addition to the familiar digitally enhanced settings, the game adds a day / night cycle and dynamic weather.
Infinite Halo Multiplayer
Halo Infinite multiplayer pits players against each other in new challenges and focuses less on storytelling. Creative Director Joseph Staten has confirmed that vehicle-infused combat will return with modernized features of what made Halo what it was during its heyday.
Xbox lists these two game modes for multiplayer:
- Arena – 4v4 squads with on-board equipment
- Great team battle – Sandbox battles with a variety of weapons and vehicles
343 Industries assures fans that it won’t turn into a battle royale. Free-to-play multiplayer may remind you of Fortnite and Call of Duty, but Halo Infinite won’t follow in both of them.
Halo Infinite Battle Pass
Unlike typical battle passes, Halo Infinite won’t trap players with a progression addiction or microtransaction marketing tactics. 343 Industries plans to implement non-expirable combat passes that remain active, even after the end of a season. This way, players won’t need to rush through all the levels of a particular battle in time for the following season. Plus, they want to prioritize features that don’t cause gamers to constantly play the game.
Players must pay for battle passes in Halo Infinite. However, the developers pointed out that no loot boxes or paid items will be part of the game.
As has more, Spartan customization allows players to customize every part of their character, from helmet to knee pads. These customizable characteristics include parts of the protective suit, but also the person under the armor. Fans praised the in-depth customization, especially due to inclusive features like different body types and even prosthetics.
