Despite losing the fight, Eye gained attention after suffering a nasty cut towards the end of the second round.
With less than a minute to go in the second round, Maia and Eye arrived at the same time resulting in an accidental heads-up clash. The accidental head butt left Eye with a large cut on his forehead which immediately began to cough up blood. At the end of the round, Eye’s corner did everything to stop the bleeding.

The replay showed the length and depth of the cut. Despite the cut, Eye was able to continue to fight and hold out for the last five minutes despite continuing to bleed profusely.
Maia entered Saturday’s bout as a fourth-ranked fighter in the women’s flyweight division. In her last fight, Maia was easily beaten by UFC flyweight champion Shevchenko at UFC 255.
Eye entered UFC 264 as the seventh flyweight fighter in the UFC. However, Eye entered the fight on a two-game winning streak and was in desperate need of a win. After winning three consecutive fights in 2018, Eye won a title but lost to Shevchenko by KO at UFC 238.
