Machi Koro, one of the best board games ever made, gets a sequel. Machi Koro 2 is due out October 6 for $ 30. Pre-orders are available now and will include exclusive maps you won’t find anywhere else. The announcement was made Tuesday in a press release from publisher Pandasaurus Games.
Machi Koro 2 takes the original rules
In Machi Koro, players take on the role of town planners trying to generate the most income for their city. Players buy locations, like restaurants and convenience stores, in a shared pool, then roll the dice to see which establishments will pay off each turn. The result is a simple yet addicting family card game where players compete to build the most efficient engine possible. Unlike games with similar themes – like Monopoly, for example – there is very little downtime. This made the game popular with heavy consumers and hobbyists.
“Machi Koro 2 takes the original rules and adds new rules to deepen and vary the gameplay, ”Pandasaurus said in today’s press release. “The cards available in each game are random, which makes each game you play different. The buildings are separated into three floors […], but only five types of cards from each deck are revealed at a time. You can no longer count on your favorite forestry strategy! “
Landmarks – expensive upgrades for your city – will also work differently, each becoming more expensive as the game progresses.
Pre-orders are available now through the Pandasaurus online store and at many friendly local game stores. They include Town Hall, Private Club, and Renovation Company, three new alternate landmarks that won’t be included in the base game. You can download the rulebook to learn more.
