E3 is in full swing this weekend with announcements coming from most of the major gaming companies. Ubisoft is expected to present its upcoming games roster this afternoon, but an unannounced sequel featuring Nintendo’s iconic plumber and Ubis’ chaotic Rabbids has shown up ahead of Ubisoft Forward’s big live stream.
A morning update on Nintendo’s eShop revealed that a new game in the Mario + Rabbids tactical series is on the way and called Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. Some screenshots accompanied some information about the new adventure. The store page gives this brief description of the game: “Team up with Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Rabbid Peach, Rabbid Luigi and their friends on a galactic journey to defeat a malicious entity and save your fellow Spark. Explore the planets of the galaxy while uncovering mysterious secrets and fascinating quests! According to details on the eShop page, this new game is slated for release on Nintendo Switch sometime in 2022.
Other details include the use of teams of three from an “eclectic roster of nine” and will continue the X-COM-style gameplay of the original. Additionally, Mario and his Raving Rabbids friends will travel across the galaxy to save the titular Sparks, who can be the Raving Rabbids Lumas in the screenshots and artwork on the Nintendo’s eShop page.
The original Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle was a wacky tactical foray into the Mushroom Kingdom. Ubisoft’s Unpredictable Rabbids have found their way to Mario’s universe and wreaked havoc on everything they’ve touched. Check out the Kingdom Battle Game Informer review for more on this new title.
Considering when this page goes live, there will likely be more information today during the Ubisoft Forward streaming event at 12:00 PM PT. Follow our Ubisoft Forward showcase coverage on our E3 hub to stay up to date with other big reveals and watch the big showcases live with us on Twitch.
