New Pokémon Snap Passes Two Million Sales Outside Of Japan
New Pokémon Snap was, for some longtime fans who dreamed of a new entry in the spinoff series, a big time in this year’s release schedule. Although Pokémon spin-offs are rarely – almost never – get closer to the equivalent sales of the main series, the photographic adventure has started well.
Nintendo’s first quarter financial results show that between its launch on April 30 and June 30, New Pokémon Snap sold 2.07 million units. An interesting wrinkle in that figure is that it only includes sales outside of Japan (North America, Europe, and others), as The Pokémon Company publishes the game in the company’s home country. Nintendo has already done this, for example with the Koei Tecmo editions Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity in Japan, but with previous major Pokémon titles on Switch, Nintendo is releasing worldwide.
It is highly likely that this arrangement was only for New Pokémon Snap; beyond that, breaking two million sales is a decent initial result for the spin-off.
