The latest Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Dev Diary gives us an update on how things are going with the RPG where you can become an Angel and ride a Velociraptor into battle. It all revolves around the fortress town of Drezen, “the greatest fantasy fortress we’ve ever built,” as the Owlcat Games video puts it.
Wrath of the Righteous is all about leading a crusade against hordes of demons, and when that begins, Drezen has been lost to said hordes for 70 years. It’s up to you to take it up in the name of the Queen, with the manner of the seat according to your decisions. The choices you make also change the city after you relocate it.
What’s new in Wrath of the Righteous are mythical paths, legendary journeys that redefine your character, who could become a lich, an angel, a demon or a walking swarm thirsty for revenge. The example of the modifications to the city is to plant a large old ziggurat in the middle or to grow your own forest. “Drezen is a mirror of the world around you,” says narrative designer Arseniy Krymov. “It’s you.”
Locations like Drezen will be less flat than their counterparts in Owlcat’s previous game, Pathfinder: Kingmaker, the Dev Diary explains, where you couldn’t rotate the camera (unless you downloaded a mod for it). ). Since Wrath of the Righteous lets you spin the camera like a stunned bat, locations like Drezen can be designed with more levels and obstacles.
Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is currently in beta. It’s slated for release in September on Steam, GOG, and the Epic Games Store, and will be available on GeForce Now at launch.
