Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Vinesh Phogat, Deepak Punia, Indian hockey team and more
The Indian campaign on Day 13 is shaping up to be very exciting as some decisive medal matches have to be played today. The Indian contingent will have a busy day of high octane sports action at the Olympics.
The spotlight will be on Indian grappler Ravi Kumar Dahiya. The sensational Indian man made his way to the final of the men’s 57 kg freestyle category. His brilliant comeback in the semi-finals showed just how determined Ravi Kumar is to win a medal for India.
His opponent in the final is a double world champion in Zaur Uguev. The Russian is one of the top wrestlers in the 57kg category, due to his aggressive style on the mat. Their only previous meeting ended with the victory of the Russian. Ravi Kumar will be determined to tie and win India’s first gold at the 2021 Olympics.
Vinesh Phoogat is ready to resume her campaign against Sweden’s Sofia Mattson. The Indian is considered one of the favorites for the medals, but her path to the medal seems a bit difficult. However, she is expected to make her way through the story of the script by winning gold.
Another important game for today will be the bronze medal game in men’s hockey. The “Men in Blue” are all ready to take on Germany in this exciting match. After missing out on a possible gold medal, the Indians will be looking to make a comeback. 1.3 billion prayers will accompany the Indian men’s team as they try to end the country’s long medal drought in hockey.
The other Indians in action today are Anshu Malik in the draft round, Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar in round 2 of the golf stroke games and the Indian men competing in the 20km walk.
