Shadow the Stalkers in Vigor: Season 9
It’s already August and you will soon understand why we decided to say goodbye to summer with a bang! By the way, do you know what else is in August? That’s right, it’s our anniversary this week! We’re celebrating our second anniversary in style and couldn’t be happier to share our excitement and gratitude with the community by releasing a new season packed with great features. But before we go over what Season 9 has in store for you, let’s take a look at what happened in Season 8, shall we?
Season 8 released in April when we featured a group of aliens called trappers who live in harmony with nature and can be identified by their animal face paintings and inventive backpacks. We introduced a new Battle Pass with two new packs: the Premium Hunter Pack for $ 69.99 and the Prey Pack for $ 19.99. We’ve also added a new weapon (the PH M82 Sniper Rifle) and 2 POIs (Loot Events) with each encounter! After all that, Patch 8.1 at the end of June saw us introduce Legacy Seasons, starting with Legacy Season 1: Preppers. In addition to the Legacy Seasons, Update 8.1 also featured the “Thank You Charity Pack”. Some pesky bugs have also been fixed, like the weapon reticle bloom bug, the bug where your weapon gets stuck after shooting the locked container, the rapid fire issue, and the compass issue.
Now let’s get down to the good stuff!
Season 9: Trackers
We have heard your comments and have taken into consideration your request for a more military season with darker clothing. This is why we are proud to present to you this military / apocalyptic side of the Outlands.
The Stalkers are the children of the apocalypse. They were born to survive in the Outlands and you can recognize them by their gas masks, muzzles, rusty weapons, and haunting, glorious title. They are also equipped with grenades and the formidable A74-KSU, so be sure to follow them across the country and check out all the upgrades they bring!
Speaking of the A74-KSU, it’s a powerful assault rifle, so give it a try in the Outlands (literally) and let us know what you think!
The next big thing has happened
The pomegranates are finally here! We know you’ve been asking for them for a long time and the wait is finally over. Some players may remember when we picked them up early in the game’s development. But we decided to remove them, overhaul them completely, and reintroduce them once they’re ready. And that time is now!
These are first of all fragmentation grenades or “frag”, that is to say that if one of them explodes near you, you can die instantly! As this is a “Special Issue” rarity, you can only carry 2 in an encounter. They are the perfect tool to force other players who might be hiding inside a house or somewhere advantageous. They can help you in situations where you feel like you’ve been ambushed, as you can throw a preemptive grenade. If there is someone waiting for you, the grenade will definitely get them moving. You can now embark on Meetings better prepared for this kind of dead end situation. Ultimately, they will bring some versatility to the game and allow players to pursue a faster style of play. So be sure to use them whenever you find the opportunity.
You can throw a grenade inside a house through an open window or through a glass! You can also choose how you want to throw the grenade. If you do a long throw, an arch will appear to show you the trajectory of the grenade. Pay attention to any obstacles along the way, as the grenade can bounce off objects. You can also go for a quick throw from a short distance. In case you were wondering if an armor plate can save you from a grenade, the answer is no! But if someone throws a grenade near you, the game will show you a warning signal, giving you a few precious seconds to escape the blast zone in one piece.
One of the issues encountered during the grenade development process was the fact that we didn’t have any animators on the Vigor team. As a result, we had to work with the entertainment we had. Fortunately, one of our writers, who is really good at animation, was able to take our existing animations and make them smoother and more natural.
Performance improvements for next-gen consoles
Here’s another thing our community was asking for and managed to introduce in Season 9: Xbox Series S | X gamers will be able to enjoy Vigor at 60 fps! And that’s just the beginning. What we plan to do next is use the extra power we get from the Xbox Series X to improve the picture quality. Our team wants to increase the target resolution, improve the quality of the shadows and refine the overall image. But we still have to investigate. However, even though we brought 60 fps to the Xbox Series S, that doesn’t leave much room for us to introduce other improvements like the X Series does.
Now’s the time to try elimination mode
We’ve decided to give Elimination mode a little love with this season, which is why there are so many big changes that have been made. First, we’ve turned off team killing! Hooray! On top of that, we’ve added more weapon loadouts before each round. Last but not least, we’re introducing an elimination crate as a reward, similar to the Shootout crate!
Here’s how the elimination crate works. Each member of the winning team will receive an elimination crate, along with XP rewards based on their score. The only way to not receive any rewards is to keep shooting your teammates, which will result in 0 XP and no crates. The elimination crate has 6 slots, each representing a different item that you can receive. See the table below to better understand how the cashier rewards are distributed.
- Slot 1 reward: Weapons
- Slot 2 reward: Consumables
- Slot 3 reward: Weapon blueprint / Materials
- Slot 4 reward: Resources
- Slot 5 Reward: Weapons and consumables
- Slot 6 Reward: Food, Cosmetics, Crowns
The question now is: “What if I were on the losing team?” »Don’t worry, you won’t leave empty-handed! If your score is over 1000, you will receive a common crate, as well as an XP reward to compensate for your time spent in Elimination mode. This applies to all team members except those with a score below 300.
More bug fixes and changes
You will be happy to know that the portable signal detector bug has been fixed! The PSD no longer ping a random person in the lobby but the one closest to your location as intended. Additionally, we’ve also fixed the Legacy Season visual bug where a crate icon appears instead of the reward icon once you’ve claimed it. We’ve also made some fixes to the AK-M and RPK recoils so that they are now much smoother. The latest patch bundle includes the fix on splitting the H-BAR bi pod with sights, and in the craft menu you can now equip consumables 1 by 1 by default instead of batteries. Last but not least, we’ve swapped out the “git gud” text while the leaderboards load with something more appropriate.
Czech Out our new location
Good news for those who want to play Vigor in Czech. You can finally do it with Season 9 because we’ve added Czech localization to the game! You might find it funny that a Czech game developer hasn’t included the Czech language in the game from the start, but better late than never, right?
Stay tuned for more anniversary events
We would like to thank you once again for standing by our side through thick and thin over the past two years! We really value our community because without you and your valuable feedback, we wouldn’t be able to constantly improve the game and provide you with a better gaming experience!
We have lots of fun and interesting activities prepared during our anniversary week, so keep your eyes peeled for more information. And here is another year full of vigorous events!
We hope you’re as excited as we are for Season 9 and enjoy throwing a grenade or two.
As always, see you in the Outlands!
