Lukhanyo Am scored one of two South African tries as the Springboks tied their streak against the Lions

South Africa equalized their three-test streak against the British and Irish Lions in Cape Town on Saturday with a 27-9 victory, as Springboks winger Cheslin Kolbe was fortunate enough to avoid a red card.

In an extraordinary 64-minute first half, Dan Biggar and Handre Pollard traded shots on goal to leave things 9-6 to the Lions at halftime, while Lions winger Duhan van der Both Merwe and South African Kolbe were eliminated – the latter avoiding a red card for taking Conor Murray into the air.

The second half saw the Boks try their hand through wing Makazole Mapimpi and center Lukhanyo Am.

A flurry of penalties against the Lions gave South Africa firm control in the finals, with Pollard adding three penalties in the final 10 minutes to create an unassailable lead.
