Staples Center Will Be Renamed Crypto.com Arena

All good things come to an end! Since 1999, the home of the Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers, and Los Angeles Sparks has been the Staples Center. However, a new agreement ends that and changes the name. According to The Los Angeles Times, the new name of the venue will be Crypto.com Arena. It will be in effect for 20 years under an agreement between the Singapore Cryptocurrency Exchange and AEG, the owner and operator of the arena.

Crypto.com lost a lot of money to make this deal a reality. Reports say they paid over $ 700 million for naming rights. Crypto.com chief executive Kris Marszalek spoke about the deal, saying he hoped people would see it as a sign of the times. “Over the next several years, people will see this as the moment when crypto broke the chasm into the mainstream,” Kris said over the phone.

Kris went on to say, “It’s such a brilliant move from the guys at AEG because the next decade is in crypto,” he said. “And that puts LA and this particular place at the center of it.” Reports also indicate that Crypto.com has paid more than five times as much for rights to the LA arena than in the past. However, Kris is unaware of the big investment. He explained, “There’s not a shadow of a doubt in my mind that it was worth it. My level of conviction is 100%.

The new arena logo will debut this Christmas when the Lakers play against the Brooklyn Nets. The remaining signage at Staples Center will be replaced with signage with the new name by June 2022. Roommates, leave a comment and let us know what you think of the upcoming name change?
