Top RPG News Of The Week: June 13th (Ohhhh Elden Ring, Summer Game Fest 2021, Salt and Sacrifice and More!)

  • This week has been filled with news with the Summer Game Fest kicking off, which preceded the start of E3 2021. A number of announcements, updates and reveals followed.
  • Developer The Farm 51 has released a dramatic new trailer for upcoming Chernobylite. Capture the morbid and terrifying aftermath of a nuclear accident. However, in this trailer narrated by Tatyana, it seems to be a mixture of the supernatural.
  • In case you missed it, Chernobylite is a survival RPG, blending free-to-play exploration with non-linear storytelling. It takes place in the Zone, an area suffering from the after-effects of the Chernobyl power plant explosion.
  • Players will take on the role of a former employee of a power plant, who investigates the mysterious disappearance of their beloved. Survival, plot, mixed with horror and “obsession”. You will also have to rely on your companions to survive, building a team capable of crossing this dangerous zone.
  • Chernobylite is currently in Early Access on Steam and will launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and GOG in July 2021. The PS5 and Xbox Series versions will release later in 2021.

Black alliance

  • Tuque Games will release its Action-RPG Black alliance June 22. Ahead of launch, they unveiled a new gameplay trailer narrated by the amazing Jemaine Clement that gives a colorful overview of the game’s features, including every playable character, combat, online co-op, and enemies players are facing. will face.
  • The party will include Drizzt, Catti Brie, Wulfgar and Breuenor Battlehammer. Each of these heroes has over 50 moves and abilities to unlock, which feels like an extended combat system.
  • When it comes to enemies, there are over 30 different types of enemies, including goblins and of course spectators. The trailer also details a bit of the story that follows the Crystal Shard that each enemy wants to get their hands on, ultimately teaming up to take it, and only the heroes in that story are stopping them from doing so.
  • Post-launch content for Dark Alliance has also been announced, with the first free DLC in summer 2021 launching alongside Couch Co-op. As the game launches with online co-op, split-screen co-op will arrive this summer. According to the roadmap, the first DLC will contain new levels. A second DLC will arrive in fall 2021, adding new levels and challenging new leaderboards. The first expansion called Echoes of the Blood War will also be available in the fall, adding a new playable character, new levels and more.

Salt and sacrifice

  • The return of the ruthless soul-like side-scroller was announced at the opening of Summer Gamesfest 2021, the sequel titled Salt and sacrifice will be published in 2022. The game was announced when the Summer Game Fest kicked off.
  • The beloved 2D Action-RPG title gets a sequel that will bring back everything fans love about the prequel, but this time it follows a new protagonist who is on the hunt for mages. But there is also a walk-in co-op in this entrance with an online and local co-op.
  • There are eight starting classes to choose from, including Highblade, Paladin, Assassin, Cleric, Dualist, Fighter, Ranger or Sage.
  • Salt and sacrifice will be released in the first quarter of 2022, for PS4 and PS5. The press release also confirmed PC.

Monster Hunter Stories 2

  • A new trailer that focuses on the narrative side of Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin details a hero’s journey. This tale follows the protagonist and his local companions, it also introduces the relationship with the legendary Rathalos, Razewing Ratha.
  • The latest trailer features a number of mysterious characters, various monsters lurking in the wasteland, and Nergigante makes another appearance once against. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is the second game in the franchise to arrive on PC, the first being Monster Hunter World.
  • Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin releases July 9 on Switch and PC.

Tales of the Ascension

  • During the Summer Game Fest 2021 live stream, two new characters were revealed for the upcoming Tales of Arise. The two new playable characters are Dohalim Ilcarus and Kisara.
  • The trailer description shares a battle that will threaten the harmony of Elde Menancia. With your group, you can “challenge your fate”.
  • The Tales series typically has six members of the group, with the latest reveal of these two characters, Dohalim and Kisara looking to join their fellow Tales of Arise characters, Alphen, Shionne, Law, and Rinwell that were previously announced.
  • The latest trailer showcases Dohalim and Kisara’s combat abilities, with Dohalim appearing to wield a bo staff, using his Artes to throw whirlpools. As Kisara wields a huge shield and mace, crushing enemies as part of her Mystical Artes.
  • Tales of Arise will be released for PS5, Xbox Series X, PS4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam on September 10, 2021.

Deadly shell

  • It has been announced that the soul-like Mortal Shell will receive a new DLC expansion called The Virtuous Cycle. A trailer has unveiled the news at IGN Expo, but the developer seems to be keeping most of the details under wraps for now.
  • The trailer teases a building with rain, a forest of moving trees, and a character looking to hold a new weapon that transforms into a spear, ax, and double sword. Developer Cold Symmetry teased new artwork on his Twitter this week, which seems to indicate that this will be a new Shell available in The Virtuous Cycle.
  • The DLC currently has no release date, listed as “coming soon” and announced for the PS5, Xbox Series X / S, PS4, Xbox One, and PC platforms (via Steam and the Epic Games Store).

Gambit of death

  • Gambit of death receives an extended edition called Afterlife, which was announced by developer White Rabbit and publisher Serenity Forge at IGN Expo. The Afterlife Edition doubles the size of the original game, adding new areas to explore, scenarios, weapons, abilities, and modes, and tuning items from the original. A new trailer featuring Death’s Gambit: Afterlife has been released.
  • On Death’s Gambit’s official Twitter account, the developer announced that there will be a number of additions, including six new bosses, ten new levels, a revamped world / systems, twenty-two new weapons, a hundred talents, metroidvania upgrades, multiple endings, crafting, and a world map. Phew that’s quite the generous amount of content.
  • No exact release date has been set, but the Extended Edition so far has been announced for the Nintendo Switch platform and additional platforms coming in 2021 according to Death’s Gambit discord.

Ancient ring

  • The biggest reveal this week was the unveiling of the Elden Ring release date and gameplay trailer. Yes, finally Elden Ring re-immersed with a brand new trailer and more details on what the game will entail. The news was very well received by the Soul community and even on our Twitch channel.
  • Details of a wide variety of weapons, abilities and magical skills, as well as the use of stealth or calling for help from an ally were all mentioned in the press release. You can even explore the world on horseback, from grassy plains to sweltering swamps. He also previewed some of the bosses and enemies that players will face.
  • It has also been confirmed that a free upgrade will be available for the Playstation 5 version for those who purchase Elden Ring on Playstation 4, and through SmartDelivery the game will be supported for Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S.
